The ministry of labour and employment will come up with a targeted action plan to give comprehensive social security coverage to all workers, introducing labour reforms, enhancing the ease of doing business for employers and decriminalisation of certain provisions of the labour laws to benefit all stakeholders. A decision to this effect was taken at a two day national conference of the ministry of labour and employment with labour ministers and la bour secretaries of all states and UTs under the chairmanship of labour and employment minister Mansukh Mandaviya.
“Three committees comprising five states each were formed to hold consultations and develop a sustainable model for comprehensive social security coverage for workers, to be presented in March 2025,” the ministry of labour and employment said.
According to the ministry, these mee-tings marked a successful culmination of the six regional workshops and seve-ral other consultations, held over the last year with all 36 states and UTs.
Over ten subjects during the five sessions spread over two days, were extensively discussed and inputs gathered, with the objective to design targeted action items, it added.
